Want to cut up my Dogwood log and carve up some Bears...but...snow...and...coldcoldcold...this
old man ain't gonna work in the goldanged snow n' cold...here in the south we just wait till it melts and it should all be
gone by Monday...but that just means sittin' round n' watchin' it melt instead of workin'...I guess I could go work in the
sunroom but then there ain't no sun in the sunroom...but...I guess I could turn on the space heater in the sunroom to warm
up the sunroom...but...sittin' round procrastinating is lookin' a whole lot better right here n' now...
Well now...the Florida Woodcarvers Roundup is now eight days away and I still got stuff to do for that...we will
be pulling out early Monday morning with hot coffee in our hands...590 miles...bout 10 hours on the road including stops...4
nights, 5 days then back home again...the things I do to buy groceries...mmm...

It's snowing...only because the weather people said "there may be a slight chance of snow but highly
unlikely"...so here it comes...kinda like white rain...don't think it will be enough to make everything close...that's
what we do here in the Deep South...close up and wait till it melts...
Cut a couple dozen sticks
yesterday...just in time it appears...now I gotta pick another day to trim up the sticks and bundle them up for the Florida
trip...so all is quiet in preparations for the trip...the checklist is growing smaller and the time is growing shorter...12
days...yep...12 days to roundup time...kinda makes you feel like a freakin' cow...roundup...mmm...whoever invented these gatherings
musta been a rancher...why not Calling All Carvers or The Rendezvous or The Gathering or A Gaggle Of Whittlers or The Carving
Bunch or something...I think the first one was held in Texas so that's why it's a roundup...now that I said that someone will
dispute it and someone else will correct it...
And for all you folks who don't like sharpening
tools there's a fella down at the Florida Woodcarvers Roundup who will be setup to sharpen your tools...I'd tell you his name
but he ain't paid yet...yee-haw...

Monday the 11th is stick pickin' day...on that day we will have had 10 days of cold
weather...the dadgum sap should have run on back down by then so it should be some good whittlin wood...I'll start with the
dogwood tree that needs to come down...there's Long Nose sticks n' little Bears n, a face or two n' other stuff I ain't even
thought of yet in that tree...then it's trim the sweet gums turn...lots more goodies in them limbs...I'll leave the hickory

WELCOME to the Blogity Blogity Blog...
I will be covering my preparations for the Florida Woodcarving Roundup so
all you folks interested can see what an instructor goes thru getting ready...well that is this instructor...The Florida Woodcarvers
Roundup is just 30 whole days away...sooo...it's time we start getting ready...I will be teaching two classes...
Feburary 2nd and 3rd will be Cypress Knee Characters and on the 4th and 5th will be Long Nose Garden Guards...both classes
should be fun so bring your sharp toys and we will have a little fun...there will 17 other instructors so you have lots of
choices although I selfishly ask that you attend mine...
I just received a box of lumpitty bumpity cypress knees for
your enjoyment and will be going stick pickin' for the Long Nose class next week...had a delay in stick pickin' because I
winter cut the sticks...but...the sap ran down and the leaves fell and then it rained and rained and rained some more and
then...and then...summer suddenly arrived again right in the middle of winter...well now...it stayed warm so long that nature
got fooled and the sap ran up and the trees started budding so now I have to wait for the sap to run on back down before cutting...and
just like Bre Rabbit a jumpin' in a briar patch winter is back...so now we wait a bit and then go stickin'...gonna get some
sweet gum sticks and some dogwood sticks both easy carving...that is if you got sharp tools...so now before ya'll ya'alls
get on to anyone's class ya'll get busy prepping your toys making em reallllll sharp...
Well that's all for now until
stick pickin' time...
